apple wach passcode

Hi,

I keep getting a message saying "your iphne has a policy that requires a new apple watch passcode".

I do not and have not ever had an apple watch passcode.

Why do I need to set one up now?

Is there a way to turn this off?

The passcode is set to off on the i watch currently.
