Apple TV 3 update continually stalls

Trying to update Apple TV 3, but process continually stalls with message "contacting update server". However, internet connection is working for Apple TV and other devices in general. Ideas?

Reset your modem
Reset your router
Unplug the Apple TV from power for 2-3 minutes, re-plug in and test.
