how can I get my screen to stay closed so I can clean it?
it opens when I lift the lid.

Unplug the computer, lift the top and leave it open, use Apple menu > Shut Down to power it off. Clean the screen as described in: How to clean your Apple products - Apple Support
On recent models, the computer will power back when you touch the keys while cleaning the keyboard.
