Trying to locate an epub reader for my 1st Gen. original Ipad

This ipad has IOS 5.1.1 and I can't find any compatible epub reader for it. I only bought it to be used exclusively used as an ereader because of the larger print and I expected ibooks to be on it already as part of the base build but I was wrong. PLEASE HELP !!

Nothing that can be done.

There are no more apps available for that nearly 11-year old iPad model.

Apple ended support for that iPad in 2012 and all third party app developers ended all of their support for this iPad by 2016.

That iPad is simply much too old, now.

Sorry.

It's 2021 now.

Purchase a much, MUCH newer iPad model that can run the lastest iPadOS 14.

That is where iPads and the OS version is at today.

Stay away from any 2011-2013 model iPad models.

Look at the 2014 iPad Air 2 models.

Look at

2017 5th gen iPad or a 2018 6th gen iPad

You can find all three of these models refurbished or used at severely reduced pricing.

The models I listed all run the current iPadOS 14.4.

Wherever you purchase online, make sure the iPad is NOT activation locked!

A proper “reset for sale” iPad will power on to an animated, multi-language “Welcome” screen.

If any other screen images are shown on a for sale iPad, that is not the initial power up “Welcome” screen, pass on that iPad for sale.

If using eBay, ask the seller to provide multiple images/photos of the iPad's animated “Welcome” screen OR, even better, a short video the shows the entire iPad initial animated, multi-language “Welcome” screen in its entirety.

DO NOT take the seller's written or spoken word ONLY.

Get visual proof of a properly reset for sale iPad.

Sorry & Best of Luck to You!

thanks for all this information Michel ... my only reason for wanting an ipad is to use it as an ereader so I don't really want all the other bells and whistles that come along with the much bigger price.

If I change my mind, I will most certainly use your wise suggestions to point me in the right direction and keep me safe from scammers. Thanks again :)

Why not just purchase a cheaper, dedicated e-reaader device?

Amazon has the Kindle reader tablet.

Barnes & Noble has the Nook reader tablet.

Most e-reader tablets are less than $200 U.S.D..

Many versions of the Kindle and Nook are around $100-$150 U.S.D.

They have other features, but their primary feature is for downloading and reading e-books and to make the reading experience more like reading a real paper printed book.
