I did the following:
a. Started a conference call with Google Meet
b. Camera light came on.
c. after meeting did not close the Meet window
d. Switched user to second users
e. During the process of switching and also while logged on as the second user the camera light remains on.
losf | grep -I applecamera
Shows nothing in the second login.
Is that acceptable behavior?

If we understand correctly, you started a conference call with Google Meet and after the meeting you didn't close the Meet window or quit the app and then switched to the second user. The camera light remains on, but nothing is showing in the second user. If Google Meet remains an active app in the first user, it is possible that the app is still using and keeping the camera active. We would recommend switching back to the first user and quitting Google Meet and then back to the second user to set if it shuts off.

After 2-3 crashes/day since I got my laptop on Dec 9th, getting locked out of my account, hours and days reformatting and reinstalling the OS.
Many, many hours spent talking to apple Support who I help do the debugging and diagnostics collection.

Just utterly and totally exhausted. So, no, I am not calling them.
Yup, I did that but it seems like a major security/privacy issue. This wasn't the behavior in the x86 laptops.
