How do I get my Nikon Coolscan Super 4000 ED film scanner to work with macOS Big Sur?

When Hamrick software was first starting out, their initial supported scanner was an early Nikon unit. A local Nikon dealer kept furnishing them with newer Nikon scanners as they became available, so the CoolScan 4000 ED is among the 24 Nikon family scanners supported by VueScan Professional without any other software or drivers.

If it doesn't work via image capture, you might have to give VueScan a try.
