Received phishing email from Lowes 2 hours after purchasing item.

Received phishing email from Lowes (Congrats! xxxxxxx, You've received $100 Lowe's reward ILmF) 2 hours after making a valid purchase at Lowe's. Contacted Lowe's to verify it is a phishing email. No suspecious activity on card. I fear this is not a coincidence and suspect I have a virus on my iMac. I have no 3rd party software installed on iMac for virus protection.

Looking for recommendations on how to proceed to investigate.

Delete the email message, and move on.

That $100 scam has been going ‘round for years, too.

With the tsunami of spam, and with ad tracking and the rest, getting the occasional too-close messages is inevitable.

Unless you want to research the utter cesspool that is the modern internet, that is.

Hi n0dawg,

It sounds like you had a phishing email and we want to help.

If this was a junk email on your Mac in your iCloud email, you can mark it as junk:

Identify and filter junk mail in iCloud

There's no reason to believe that because you received a scam email that you have a virus.

Your Mac has built-in security to help protect you from malicious software:

Apple Platform Security

Best of luck.
