Apple ID Login on new MacBook saying iPhone/ipad password incorrect when trying to login

When I try to log in to my apple ID on a new MacBook, it asks for computer password, iCloud password, etc. When I have to type in my iphone or iPad password it says it is incorrect, despite me being able to use the same password to log into my iPhone. I've tried multiple times with no success.

Where are you trying to sign in? The computer password is your user password.

If signing into iCloud and your Apple ID password doesn't work, are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

I'm trying to login on a new MacBook through the apple ID page on system preferences. I can get through the first questions (icloud password, computer password) but when it asks for my 6 digit numerical iPhone or iPad password and I type them in it says they are incorrect. I can use the same password to unlock my iPhone or iPad though and it works on those.

I am not running any antivirus programs or using a VPN
