Touch Screen quit functioning on Brand new iPad Air

I am trying to get support to fix this issue. The touch screen is unresponsive -- and so is Apple Support!

I am unable to restart the iPad because I cannot "swipe to shut down." I cannot start the iPad because it does not respond to touch. I am basically left with a useless, inaccessible rectangle.

When I try to get a chat response for a non-working touch screen, I get a spinning disk and eventually a blank message space under a box that says: Apple support options are currently limited. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Is my only option to send it or take it in to be repaired or replaced?

Is this a common issue?

Try a "forced" restart of your iPad, using these instructions:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top (power) button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top (power) button. Only when the Apple logo appears (it might take 20-40 seconds), release that button (ignore all other screens that might appear).

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support, using this link:--> Get Support
