Is it safe to buy a refurbished iPad Pro 12.9 inch gen 1?

Am I risking the chance of having a slow, outdated iPad because of convenience and price? Should I be concerned about wasting my money on a product that won’t update?

I have two of these from 2015/2016.

The second one I purchased used in like new condition and was given an option to purchase an warranty on it

They are still plenty usable.

The 1st gen iPad Pro is going to get the next version of iPadOS, for sure.

If it doesn't get the following year's iPadOS, it will still get approx. 2 more years, or so of third party app support.

While its processor is dated, it still has plenty of processing RAM.

I have not noticed any slowdowns with either of with either of these

There has been some issues with faster battery drain, but I am still getting a total battery life between 6-7 hours of battery life.

Where is the refurbished 2015/2016 iPad Pro coming from.

If its refurbished, it should be repaired of whatever it was wrong with it and gotten a brand new battery.

If possible, if this refurbished 2015/2016 iPad Pro has the option of some third party warranty, I would advise paying for such a warranty as an insurance policy against any unforeseen damages or other unkniwn hardware failures.

These late 2015/2016 iPad Pro models are approaching Apple's 6-year support cycle.

Do what you will.
