Light websites with only articles and some ads are taking RAM in GBs. Why is this? Is there some problem with my mac? Because of this issue, some tabs just automatically close because they are taking too much RAM, and a lot of them are being pushed to swap. This is a brand new base M1 Macbook Air with 8 GB of RAM.
These days it is no surprise that websites download so much data.
Even something that appears simple, was probably designed with some
library that downloads a fist full of files even though only a small
number of features in that library are used for the website.
I was browsing the C-NET website the other day and it was using 1.5 GB!
So, the problem is not the Mac, but website libraries that people use
to develop the sites are bloating more and more out of control.
Maximum of total 10 tabs. And none of these tabs are very heavy ones. Maybe it's possible, but why do I feel it's just not it? Online reviews showed that one could actually edit professional videos with this base version if someone really wanted to.

Quite possible but not with multiple apps and browsers/w multiple tabs running at the same time.
Are you sure? Because I used windows before this and I never encountered this problem. Is it possible that something is wrong with my unit?
How many Tabs are open at the same time and notice in Screen Shot have Brave Browser active as well as Safari. With mult-Tabs open in each. . . . join the dots.
