Aol on iPad

I've been happily using Aol for my emails on my iPad using the Mail App for many years with no problems. Earlier this month I kept getting error messages with Account issues and no mail would download from the server. This issue was limited to just my iPad, my iPhone and iMac were working and downloading as before.

Probably foolishly, I deleted my Aol account from my iPad and then used the Add account facility to reinstall it.

Initially, for the first 2 or 3 days I had no problems, but then starting getting regular messages (almost daily) that my Aol password was incorrect and I should go to Settings to add it.

This is when a noticed a bizarre change to my Aol account info on the iPad as shown here by before and after screenshots;

My Incoming Mail server details, including password, have vanished!!

Subtle difference - In the background instead of showing IMAP it just says AOL.

Strangely enough, if I close my Mail App and reopen it again about 50% of the time my emails download as before.

Anyone else with issues?

Hello Nick,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having some issues receiving emails from your AOL account and are being prompted for your password.

When you visit AOL Mail, does your password work there without any issues? Do emails load OK in webmail or does a similar issue occur? Do you have other email accounts on your iPad and if so, is it only AOL that experiences this issue?

Since your settings no longer appear, we also recommend that you check the Mail Settings Lookup to see if the settings for your AOL account match what shows on your iPad. Change any settings that need to be changed, then test again.

Take care.
