An unknown error occurred (7004)

When I connect my iPhone or iPad to my MacBook Pro with a cable, Finder shows me this message:

An unknown error occurred (7004)

And there's nothing else I can do.

I have restarted all devices, removed antivirus and firewall, and there's no way around it.

I have a:

  • 16" MacBook Pro, 2019 build, with macOS Big Sur on it;
  • iPhone 11 with the latest iOS;
  • iPad Air 3rd generation, idem.

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks

TM

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 11.2

Well a way to fix this issue is by going to your home folder and deleting the music and Apple TV libraries. After that, reopen Apple TV and music and the apps will recreate the libraries. So then the error should go away.

Also here are the paths

Music: Your Username\Music\Music\Music Library

Apple TV: Your Username\Movies\TV\ TV Library

That error is not in the list. Most of them are related to USB failure or storage on iPhone totally rammed full. Check those.

You were unwise to install any 3rd party antivirus or firewalls on any of your devices and it is possible that it, or they, did not get removed completely by the uninstaller.

You could get etrecheck from etresoft.com for the Mac and run it with full disk access.

Attach the report using the Additional Text icon on the Mac browser.

Some people on here may spot something or you can create a new post on the Big Sur forum.

I have this problem also. Just updated to Big Sur 11.2.2 and when I click on my iPad in Finder, it gives this 7004 error. I have tried to restart both my Macbook Air (M1) and my iPad Air 3 to no avail. I don't have any antivirus software installed. My iPad still has over 30GB of free space.

EDIT: Sidecar works via Lightning cable so it's not a connection problem per se.
