This question has shown up many times: the iPhone 11 Pro (vers 14.4) is locked; silent mode is off; Allow Notifications is set, alerts checked, and volume is up for all apps; each is set for Show Previews: Always. I have reviewed all the suggestions and can find no solution.

A second phone is configured identically and there is no problem with alerts sounding when it's locked. The only difference is that, in the first scenario, the phone pairs with a series 5 iWatch and alerts do not hit the phone when the watch is on. The second phone pairs with a series 3 and there is no issue with alerts when the watch is on.

Notifications on your Apple Watch

Notifications go to either your Apple Watch or iPhone, but not both.

If your iPhone is unlocked, you'll get notifications on your iPhone, instead of your Apple Watch.

If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked with your passcode.

The second phone pairs with a series 3 and there is no issue with alerts when the watch is on.

Then AWs3 has Wrist Detection feature turned off and as such some features that uses do not work s intended.
