Watch Series 3 and iPhone XR pairing

I'm trying to pair an Apple Watch Series 3 and iPhone XR after they stopped communicating. Neither device's bluetooth seems to recognize the other. Is there a simple solution or do I need to upgrade my watch?

watch pairing won't work As soon as I start to pair my series 3 apple watch to my Iphone 6 plus it says it is updating and then says it is unpairing and won't allow me to pair it. What should I do? I have shut off both devices and turned them back on.

Pairing issues I have an Apple Watch series 1 and an iPhone 11 that I’m trying to pair. My iPhone is up-to-date with the new iOS. When I go to pair the two devices, the iPhone recognizes that it is paired to the watch, but the watch is not recognizing that it is being paired to the phone. Are the two devices compatible, and if so how can I successfully pair them?

Watch must be using 7.3.1 and the XR needs 14.4.
