Navigation back button not working

I have the Apple Watch 4 with watchOS 7.3. In numerous apps the navigation back button will not respond. Example: I open the calendar and I see the events for the next week. Up in the upper left corner is a chevron pointing to the left next to the word “Today”. Previously, if I tapped that back button, I would see the month calendar. If I then tap an event I see that event and again there is that back button in the upper left corner, with the date.. I could tap that till the cows come home... again no response. Now this use to work on this watch with previous watchOSs..

Any thoughts on what is wrong and how I might fix it..???
