Shutdown
Since the new update my iPhone 8+ shuts down as soon as I plug the charger in. It still charges 100% but it means that i cannot receive calls. Is it supposed to do this? Or is it a sign that something is not as it should be?

Curlygirl ~ Shutting down unexpectedly can be a symptom of a battery in need of replacement:
"...The power management system determines the capability of the battery to supply this power, and manages the loads in order to maintain operations. When the operations can no longer be supported with the full capabilities of the power management system, the system will perform a shutdown to preserve these electronic components. While this shutdown is intentional from the device perspective, it may be unexpected by the user." [Source: Apple]
…So, if the battery of your iPhone is the original one, it may need replacement. What's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

That's about the % to be expected from an iPhone 8+ with its original battery. Replacing the battery is almost certain to solve the shutdowns:

Okay, on your iPhone, tap this icon which is the Settings app:
...Then scroll down to Battery and tap it. Then tap Battery Health and tell us what the Maximum Capacity % is.

Thank you for your response. However the charging port is clean and the phone charges up without a problem. I just wondered why the phone shuts down each time? It never used to. Is it part of the new update? Or a symptom of another issue?
I am slightly confused by your question. What capacity are you talking about? I am not familiar with technical jargon. The phone charges in the same way as before. It holds it's charge in the same way. The only thing that has changed is that when I plug the the charger cable in, the phone instantly shuts itself down. There are no obvious issues or problems apart from this anomaly. Thanking you in advance for any help you can offer. 🙏
Thank you for your response.
it charges up to 100% and lasts all day. It only shuts down when I push the charger in. It is a genuine Apple charger.

That's not what I asked. Again, what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...
