One email address but two apple IDs!!

Is it possible to have two people who share one email address to have a separate Apple ID? I recently bought my husband his first iphone and when we were setting it up it asked for the code of the other iphone which is mine - and I logged into his phone with my Apple ID which is linked to my (our) email address and now every time his phone rings mines does too - any suggestions on how to separate the phones again? I'm assuming that I can't set up an Apple account for him using the same email address?

iPhone SE, iOS 14

Hey there, Lizabell59!

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you want to use the same email address but have it act as two separate Apple IDs. Is this correct?

If so, this is not advised. Your Apple ID is the account you use to access all Apple services. Using the same Apple ID on multiple devices allows the sharing of personal information (like email, text messages, or passwords.) That all can be helpful when they are all your device but can create a problem if others use the device.

We recommend that you create one single Apple ID for yourself and use it on all the Apple devices you own. Here's a guide on How to create a new Apple ID.

All the best.
