For years we have shared an ID. However with two new phones, we are able to read each other’s texts. I can’t seem to sign up for my own ID. Every time I try it assumes I am signing in on old account. I have read numerous articles… what am I doing wrong?🙃🙃

Merging Apple accounts (IDs) or transferring data is not officially supported, nor can it be done easily or completely.

Look into using Family Sharing to continue to be able to use items purchased with one Apple ID with other Apple IDs.
