Can't get my iPhone XR off silent; it just vibrates. The round button above volume controls seems to have no effect

Which iOS version do you have installed? You can find this by going to Settings > General > About. If there is an opportunity to update to a later iOS version, please consider that step: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and be sure to also update all apps afterwards: How to manually update apps on your Apple device. If the issue remains, continue below.

-Does restarting help your device at all, even briefly? Restart your iPhone

-Are you unable to hear the ringer on incoming calls, as well as alert sounds for incoming notifications?

-Are all notifications affected, or only notifications for certain apps?

Please confirm the following:

-Your notifications are set up as desired: Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch 

-You do not have Do Not Disturb enabled: Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
