My apps keep reloading even when background app refresh is on or off

I updated my Instagram app to fix sound problems and it worked but now every time I get out of the app even for just a second it reloads. I've tried both ways with the background app refresh on and off but it still occurs. I've updated my phone thinking it was that but nothing. Even when I leave the app open and lock my screen, when I unlock it, the app is gone so I have to open it and it reloads. It is really annoying me because I leave off in a certain place on my feed but it always starts over. I was having no problems until I decided to update my insta and I'm sooo annoyed. Any suggestions from anyone? Or am I the only one.

Thanks for the additional details. The decision for an app to save its state when switching off of it to another app is up to the app developer. Do you notice this issue specifically with Apple apps such as Messages, Safari or Notes, etc? Or only with third-party ones?

If it is isolated to third-party apps, we'd recommend checking for updates for those apps in the App Store:

How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Should the issue persist beyond that, it is up to the app developer to restore that functionality to the app.

If you encounter the same issue with Apple apps, at that point reach out to Apple Support for additional assistance.

Hi jaz_car1115,

We see that after updating Instagram, the app automatically refreshes in a manner it did not before.

To clarify, is this an issue with only Instagram, or other apps with an auto-refresh feature. If it is just Instagram, there may be some changes on their end as to how auto-refresh works in a recent update.

If this does persist with other apps, let us know what app or apps specifically, including any Apple ones. We'll continue from there.

Hello

It is with other apps as well. Messaging, my game apps, snapchat, but I had only mentioned instagram since it is the one that bugs me more that it doesn't stay where I left it.
