Mac Pro 2019 and Time Machine using internal Sata 3 SSD

Can I put Time Machine on an internal SATA 3 SSD drive in a 2019 Mac Pro or will the Apple T2 security chip prevent me from doing this? Thank you

The T2 chip and Time machine will not prohibit you from doing that. Time machine backups are already not bootable.

But your friends at Apple Support Communities will remind you that your backup drive should not share Hardware (the main power supply) with your primary system, because a catastrophic failure could take out both. Also, Time machine does not benefit from a drive that is fast, so SSD is of no particular benefit.
