Sharing Location Not Showing Up in Contact Info

My wife shares her location with me. We each have separate iCloud accounts. I am able to see her location in the “Find My” app, however the location had previously popped up on a map in the contact info. How can I make this appear again? When another friend shares location with me I am able to see it in the contact info.

Thanks so much for checking both those settings, Karl. That second one, set in System Services, seems to make a difference with this particular sharing feature, so we wanted to be sure.

Again, we know you've been hard at work troubleshooting this, let us know if you've been through this process.

On your wife's iPhone, please have her stop sharing her location with you. You should see a message in Messages on your iPhone that she has stopped sharing her location and likewise, in the message thread with you on her iPhone it will say she stopped sharing her location. Restart both devices. Then have her enable sharing her location again, do this from the Messages app. You're looking for any pop-ups that might be saying that in order to share her location she needs to change a setting. If you see that, it should have an option to go right to the needed Setting from the dialog. Do that and let us know where it takes you.

Additionally, she should now see in Messages that she has started sharing with you and you should receive a notification on your iPhone that she has started sharing as well.

That pop-up is important if it shows because, if it gets ignored, things will still look like they are set to share but they won't because of the missed setting.

Thanks for continuing to work on this with us.

Thanks for getting back to us KarlK1014,

We have two settings we'd like for you to check on your wife's phone, or ask her to check.

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Messages

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Share My Location

If either of those is set to Never or toggled off please enable them and let us know if the situation persists.

We look forward to hearing back!

Hey KarlK1014,

We understand you to say that when you open the Contacts app and pull up your wife's contact card you're not seeing a map with her location, but you do see it for other contact cards.

Let's be sure we're checking all ways she can share her location with you. Are you and your wife part of an Apple ID family? Does she have her location set to share with you indefinitely? How about if she shares her location with you through the Messages app? You can see how to do that in the section 'Share your location in the Messages app' Find friends and share your location with Find My

Thanks!
