Duplicate Songs in Multiple Playlists

Hello!

I want to transfer several iTunes playlists to a USB stick. Some playlists have the same songs.

If a particular song is on several different playlists, is it also duplicated in terms of storage space? Or is there only one version - shared between playlists?

Thanks.

It may depend on exactly how you transfer the playlists to the drive. If you drag and drop to the same location then you will probably be asked if you want to overwrite any tracks that are already present. Best way to find out is to try it and see.

Shmanzoid,

In your iTunes/Music library , one copy of the same song file can be shared among multiple playlists. But... if you copy one playlist at a time to the stick, the whole playlist will copy, and there is nothing in the process that will de-duplicate.

Try it first with two playlists that share a few songs in common, and you can see how it works.
