recovery

Hi I have just purchased the M1 Air and turned on the laptop and it has gone onto recover mode where it’s asking me to reinstall the macOS Big Sur. When I go to press download it comes up with 2 options, download on Macintosh HD or Data.

when I click Data it says “ you may not install to this volume because it has been damaged please use disk utility to properly erase this volume” when I go to click download Macintosh HD it says “no users available for authorisation. An error occurred while reading device owners. Ensure that a user is allowed to administer this computer”.

is this computer faulty or can I get it to work I am stressed and confused :(
