iPod Classic + Audible.com books + MacBook Pro Big Sur Software + No iTunes?

I still use an iPod Classic to listen to my over 200 Audible books. I had been downloading books to my older MacBook Pro and sync to the iPod Classic via iTunes. I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and love it BUT the software that is now "upgraded" has created a change to iTunes (as in NO more iTunes) and I have not been able to determine how to create the same connect to my iPod Classic. Any suggestions? I assume there is a solution I just have not figured it out.

I know .... iPod Classic is old technology BUT it works SO well. Loads of storage, battery last forever and it is so rugged. I can take it hiking with my band bang it around and it just keeps on working.

You'll need to add your Audible account to the Books app. From the Books help file:

Authorise your Mac to play audiobooks purchased on audible.com

Audible is a third-party website that sells audiobooks and other spoken programmes. Before you can listen to an audiobook that you download from the Audible website, your Mac needs to be authorised on audible.com.

  1. In the Books app on your Mac, click Library in the toolbar, then click Audiobooks in the sidebar.
  2. Find an item downloaded from the Audible website, then double-click the item. *
  3. Click Yes in the dialogue that appears.
  4. Sign in to audible.com if necessary, then follow the onscreen instructions.

You can authorise up to three computers to play purchases from the Audible website. To de-authorise Audible on a computer, visit audible.com, sign in to your Audible account, and follow the onscreen instructions for de-authorising a computer.

* You may may need to drag and drop existing content into the app if it has not been migrated there from an earlier iTunes library.

Open the Podcasts app and make sure that previous collection has been imported, or import any locally stored content and set up or review your subscriptions.

Syncing should be managed through Finder. Select the iPod in Finder, then the Podcasts and Audiobooks tabs to set sync selections, and sync.

Thank you!!!!! After going through three other "experts" your advice above worked and I was able to follow. My classic iPod with its large capacity of drive and days of charging ability will continue on! Big sigh of relief!

I know that it is crazy to keep this old technology going but it works.

Thank you again! Maybe I am a trend setter ...... or just stuck with what I know works well.
