How do you resume external drive encryption on Mac using terminal?

I started encrypting a 500 GB HDD. During the encryption process the hard drive lost connection with my MacBook. I reconnected the drive and pressed on the volume with two fingers so the drop-down menu appeared. Once the menu had appeared I checked that it was still encrypting. (I have attached a photo below of the menu I mean.)

But normally with a hard drive you can hear when it's Reading and writing data to the disk as the head moves over the platter. Originally while it was encrypting I could hear it working hard as it encrypted the disk. But after it lost connection and I plugged it back in, even though it says it's encrypting in the drop down menu after a couple of minutes of inactivity I can hear the hard drive go to sleep. I then decided to check the progress in terminal and after checking it, it states that the encryption is paused. (I have attached a photo below)

I have ejected the drive and remounted it, I have restarted my MacBook and I can't seem to get it to resume. Is there any terminal command that can make the encryption process resume for this disk? I appreciate your help in advanced! 😊
