None of the apps that i have purchased prior to the date of setting up my family sharing are showing. I have tried all the steps mentioned above in the "If you don't see your families shared content". How can I get them to be shared?

Disregard I found the answer. You have to go to App Store > purchased and then find the app that you want to install instead of going to the App Store and going to the app itself.
