Sorry, but this is not possible. M1 Macs do not support Target Display Mode, the name of the function of what you want to do.

It's a crying shame not to be able to use target display mode. I wonder why Apple made that decision
I didn't mention it in my original post, but also you have a 21.5 2010 iMac. Only 27" 2010 iMacs could ever do this function.
