Apple watch & prepaid sim cards

Hi there,

I want to buy an apple watch but unsure if I should get Cellular or GPS version.

I have an Iphone 11 - but I use a prepaid sim card with Amaysim & I am not on a plan with Telstra, Optus or Vodaphone. So am I correct in assuming there is no way I could get the functionality of the Cellular version?
