I am giving my Apple Watch Series 5 to my college kid as a gift as I purchased a new Apple Watch. Can I keep on paying for this AppleCare+ even if my son links the Apple Watch to his own Apple ID? Will he be covered for any repairs?

Unfortunately, at the bottom, it says "If you make monthly payments* for your AppleCare plan, the plan is linked to your Apple ID and can't be transferred to a new owner."
