grapher text turns black

Every time I use grapher, the text turns black, like this:

As you can see, it's very difficult to see, and I would like to know if there is a fix for this.

I found this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251325208

in that thread, it suggests deleting the grapher preferences, but there is no preferences file in my computer.

If I save and reopen, it still comes back in black text. This happens every time I use grapher.

OK, we completely see what you mean.

This may be happening due to your Mac being in Dark Mode. To get around this issue you may want to set it to a light appearance when using Grapher. You can do this by going to System Preferences > General. You can also easily switch to between light and dark by asking Siri to switch it for you: How to use Siri on your Mac

If your Mac is compatible, another option may be to upgrade to macOS Big Sur: Upgrade to macOS Big Sur. It's possible you may not experience the same behavior on the newest software. You can also leave feedback on what you're experiencing with Grapher so it gets reviewed by the right people: Product Feedback

Take care.

Hi there, dolo101. We can help you with customizing your graphs in Grapher.

A great place to start is the guide, Change how graphs look in Grapher on Mac. This will help you customize the graph, background, fonts and the colors used. To change the formatting of text, select it, then choose Format > Font > Show Fonts. This will let you select the font used, style, and size. Using the drop down menus in this window will also let you choose a font color.

Give that a try, and see if it works better for you.

We're here for you.

Hi, ryane77;

This issue is simple to replicate, please do the following:

enter any equation, for example sin(x), then highlight sin(x) and press CMD-x to cut the equation. This will change all the text black, and there is no setting you can do to change the font color, aside from pressing CMD-z, which is only temporary. Once you start typing again, the text changes to black.

Hope that helps in replicating this issue. I'm not sure sure why cutting a piece of the equation would cause this issue.

Thank you;
