Imac black screen

2012? Imac starts up fine, after a bit of time the screen goes black, walk away, come back, all is normal again. Repeat...

Did a Nvram reset with up to 4 startup sounds.

The fan does not make noise!

Could it be because the fan does not work?😱

can the fan be replaced? 😌

iMac Blackscreen Hi everyone, I got in struggle with my iMac (late 2015). Software = Big Sur. After an Update the iMac turned off and didn't get alive so far. Blackscreen all the way. After pressing the start button the fans start to blow, after about 5 seconds it turns off and turns on again. Now its running endlessly in this state. iMac 5K 2019 startup and then black screen My iMac 5K 2019 (I believe) just randomly began to give me a problem. I used it two days ago, and shut it down, and then I tried turning it on today, but after the apple logo showed up and the progress bar began moving further to the right, the brightness of the black screen goes up a tad bit and then it stopped moving around the halfway point and then after a few seconds, a flicker happens where I can see the mouse cursor up in the top left corner of the screen while having a black screen, and then it goes away and I'm left with a black screen. I hear that the fan is running, and sadly I had my mute button on before, so I can't tell if the startup sound plays or not, but I imagine that it does. What the heck is going on? Anyone know of a fix? I also let it run, and it eventually got darker, as if it was beginning to enter display sleep mode, and when I pressed a key on my keyboard, it lit up again, but still a black screen.

imac doesn't boot My imac is 27" a1312 model. I bought it without a keyboard and mouse. When I pressed the power button, I heard the fans running for a couple of seconds and the fans stopped. The screen is black the whole time. I then removed the screen, hard drive, keyboard, mouse, and all peripheral devices and repeated the booting process but the computer still didn't turn on. The first diagnostic LED turned on and stayed on as long as I plugged in into the outlet. If I unplug the power cable, the first diagnostic LED turns off. I even tried to jump the power button connections to check if the power button was bad. The fans turned on for a couple of seconds and then turned off and nothing happened. I removed all the RAM modules and plugged each RAM module back into the motherboard one by one and reboot the computer each time. but the computer still don't turn on. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Likely a hardware problem, please take the computer to your local Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it diagnosed. Then you can decide what to do.

Your welcome and good luck. My guess is it may be a failing backlight or failing display. If it is a backlight these are not too bad to repair assuming you can find the part on pre 2011 iMacs.

Thanks for your answer, I will consider this after some more research.

The computer is already on it's last legs, because the OS cannot be updated beyond MacOS High Sierra Very 10:13, a fact that reminds me of my Microsoft days. Alas
