How can I change the position of an app in the dock?

Click down on the icon in the dock and drag it where you want in the dock to place it and release.

Prevent Apps from staying in dock I'm looking for the solution for years, seriously, but still no success. So the question is quite simple: I don't want to have an app icon in the dock after it's closed. Ever. Is it possible? Open apps and remain on dock When I open a app the app remains on the dock and then i have to right click on it to remove remove from dock is there any way to stop the apps from automaically add to dock when I closed them. Instead of having to remove them off the dock. Thank you all for your help.
