Mail apps not accepting password

Hi,

Today users in our office experienced Mail on iPhones needing password for office 365. Our users didn't make changes to iOS account security or office 365 but passwords were being requested. Two part verification is not turned on for these users.

The only workaround I found is to remove and re-install the entire account on the phone. NO big deal... but when I do, it says the password differs from the one stored previously. So it seems the previously stored one is somehow incorrect (or at least different) even though the one I enter is identical to the previously stored one.

On the phone itself, is there a way to remove specific keychain entries for the email account itself? I tried removing the password and setting it back at the account settings but this didn't work either.

Hello OaksMan,

We understand that you are having an issue with the Mail app accepting your Outlook email password on your iPhone, and we’ll do our best to assist you.

Since it's a handful of users and only while using an Office 365 account, the best thing to do from here is reach out to the provider of the account directly for help: Contact Us - Microsoft Support

If you've already spoken to them or need further help, you can reach out to Apple Support directly here: Get Support
