Why is my USB Super Drive not recognized?

When I plug in my USB Super drive into my MacBook Pro (2015) it does not recognize that it is plugged in. This used to work just fine but it's been a while since I used it. I have MacOS BigSur version 11.2.1.

Why is my USB Super Drive not recognized?

Also, if I try to insert a dice into the drive it does not pull it in not let it go out. Is my drive broken? If so, is it worth repairing or better to just buy a new one?

Make sure the SuperDrive is connected directly to the Mac.

Try using the other USB port.

Try rebooting the laptop.

If the discs are not being pulled into the SuperDrive, then it may not be getting power or there is a hardware issue with the SuperDrive itself.

It is not possible to repair a SuperDrive. I would suggest getting a standard USB DVD burner so it should be compatible with any computer.
