How can I get them to appear FULL SCREEN?

Are you recording the video in portrait mode, or in landscape mode (phone vertical or phone horizontal)

How are you watching the video on your TV? Is it through AirPlay or another app? If its AirPlay follow the steps in Use AirPlay to stream video or mirror your device’s screen. If it's another way, please let us know about what devices and apps you use to access YouTube.
If the issue is with Video resolution & aspect ratios, take a look at the app developers' advice in that link. You'll want to follow their advice for what aspect ratios they recommend.

On Youtube the preview on my iphone, the picture shows only a partial screen.
when I watch the Youtube video on the iphone, it appears FULL SCREEN.
The problem I am having is: when watching the video on TV, it does not appear full screen.
It only appears on about one third of the screen down the center of the screen.
Some uploaded videos do appear full screen but most only display as a partial screen.
Is there anything I can do when uploading future videos to youtube to make it appear FULL SCREEN on my TV?
Also, is there any way to make videos previously uploaded to youtube to appear full screen on my TV?
I have tried two different ways:
Casting from the youtube app on my iphone
viewing it via the youtube app on my Sharp smart tv
I am getting only a partial screen both ways
uploading videos from iphone to youyube
