Does it seem like stabilization in FCP has gotten worse?? As of February 2021? I have seemingly smooth clips that I just want to apply a bit of stabilization and when it renders out, it's even shakier/more jello-like than before! HELP! It used to be GREAT and now I feel like the its far worse than it used to be.

I think I figured it out! I was rotating all of my clips (for vertical orientation) in Finder before importing them into FCP and for whatever reason it was unable to stabilize the pre-rotated clip. If I rotate in FCP and then stabilize, it works PERFECTLY. But if I rotate all the clips before I import, stabilization doesn't work. Thanks again for the help!

When was it better? Different OS? Different versions? There were changes to stabilization in 10.5 to prevent some crashes.
Jello like sounds like a rolling shutter error. Could you post a video somewhere that it can be viewed?
I ran a few handheld clips through 10.4.6 and 10.5.1 and the output was the same. It's of course going to vary a lot based on the material, but I'm not getting different results between the application versions.
It seems like just before 10.5.1 it was the best. I'm filming in 60 frames per second at 1/125 shutter, handheld so I don't get much rolling shutter with that setup. I will post with and without stabilization so you can see the difference and send you the link. I'm running OSCatalina 10.15.7
