iPadOS Files.app PDF preview/editor: hiding/moving the thumbnails

This severe usability bug (it is clearly not just a minor usability feature request) has been around since at least October 2019, as documented in the question asked back then, and included below.

Over the past years (plural), the question has been raised multiple times, without any answer except referral to the product feedback page – which, "interestingly", is (currently) lacking "Files.app" as an application to submit feedback for. Perhaps this year…

Here goes the text of the original posting from October 17, 2019:

Hiding thumbnails when annotating iPad .pdf files

I keep touching by mistake the page thumbnails when using Apple Pencil on .pdf files in the Files app (iPad). This causes the current page to change... The problem is that the thumbnails are on the right of the screen and I use my right hand to write (I touch the thumbnails with the side of my hand when writing).

Is this just an issue of mine? Is there a way to move or hide the thumbnails when using Pencil?
