Is there away to clear "other" storage on an older iPad running 12.5.1 ?

I have offloaded rarely used apps and cleared browsing history. Other storage is still nearly 7 GB. I had this cleared some time ago by Simply Mac. Seems there should be way to do it through my iMac.

The iMac is new, running Big Sur.

jaybird865,

Thanks for getting back to us with this information. We can understand considering restoring your iPad as a new device. This may help to resolve the issue. However, consider that it may back up information that is taking up Other space. Check out this link to learn about the best way to backup your iPad and save the information you need: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Once your information is safe, you can follow these steps to properly erase your device to factory settings: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings.

Best regards!

Greetings, jaybird865!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! We understand that you have some questions about 'Other' storage on your iPad. We can understand your concerns. We want to help get you pointed in the right direction.

'Other' data files are temporary files that automatically delete when space is needed. For example, if you watch a video from YouTube, it will keep downloading the video in the background. As it is playing, a temporary file is created. Your iPad will keep that file until space is needed. So if you rewatch that video, it does not have to re-download it. The same thing goes for music, other types of files, and apps.

We recommend following this resource for more information about iOS storage: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

All the best.
