where to find days to sync email

I have iOS 14.4 on my iPhone se 2020. My gmail inbox suddenly shows only emails from yesterday and today. Same with my iPad. All the google solutions to choose "days to sync" are from years ago and don't apply. They say to go to mail>passwords & accounts, which are all separate now and don't solve my problem. I want my email to never delete automatically. Please help! Be specific as I'm not so computer literate. Thanks in advance!

If I recall that only works for an icloud or exchange account when using the built in ios mail app.

I look at my settings on my ipad for my gmail account using the ios mail app and I do not have "mails day to sync" however all of my emails is in my inbox.

You may need to get in touch with google or look at their support site, or download the gmail app.
