Hi, I have been unable to play the Mac Chess game on my laptop for several years, since 2017.
I have reported this time and time again, but it is useless as no response is ever given.
Is there a way to make "Chess" on my mac work again?

Being that the issue continued to occur while in safe mode as well, let's have you follow the steps in this article: How to use safe mode on your Mac under the section titled 'If the issue continues in safe mode'. We've quoted those steps below for your convenience as well:
"If the issue continues in safe mode
If the issue continues while in safe mode, or your Mac restarts several times and then shuts down while starting up in safe mode, you should reinstall macOS and make sure that your Apple software and third-party apps are up to date."
As always, be sure to back up your data on your Mac before performing any of these steps, for extra peace of mind.

I tried safe mode. There is no change.
The game opens with an old game unable to play, it becomes unresponsive immediately, then maybe ten seconds later the game bombs out and I get the report issue screen.
