Can I use iCloud to store more music on my iPhone? (Without subscribing to Apple Music)

Hi!

I have a smart playlist in my local music library that I use to sync music to my iPhone. I'm a CD collector so most of my music is ripped from CD or bought from iTunes Store or other places. I have no need for Apple Music. But the space on my phone is running out and I was wondering, is it possible to use iCloud somehow (I don't mind paying for extra storage) to use for my music?

I've tried to find information online but it seems to me that I must subscribe to Apple Music in order to get more music on my Phone or sync my library in any other way than what I'm doing right now. Is this the case? I'd really like to use my own music files in the music app on my phone.

Thanks in advance!

You cannot increase storage of an iPhone. However, you can optimize iPhone Storage by using iCloud Storage. Save space on your device

Settings > [your name] > iCloud Tap Photos > Choose Optimize [device] Storage Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support

You can buy iCloud Storage. --> Buy more iCloud storage - Apple Support

You can manage your storage --> How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Manage your Storage --> Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support

Your photos are always available for both iPhone and iCloud. You delete it on the iPhone it is gone from iCloud and vice-versa. To save space on your iPhone use optimized iPhone storage. Remember, if you delete in one it is deleted everywhere.

Get started with iCloud Photos:

  1. Tap Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
  1. Turn on iCloud Photos.
  1. Select Optimize iPhone Storage to save space on your device.

With Optimize Storage, smaller, space-saving photos and videos are kept on your device while all of your original, full-resolution versions are stored in iCloud. And as long as you have enough space in iCloud, you can store as many photos and videos as you want.

Thanks for your reply. Ah, I see. Well, I have all my photos and videos on my iMac which is backed up to Time Machine, so that's not the problem since I generally move them all to my computer and don't keep them on the phone. I guess I will just have to stick with my old iPod Classic until Apple decides to change this. ;) Thanks for answering my question though!
