Screen keeps turning on after I lower the brightness

"For like a week or two (since one of the last updates) my screen keeps turning back on when I lower the brightness all the way to off. I have done this for a long time and it never has been a problem, but now it keeps waking up or something and turning the screen on randomly. Can you please fix whatever you changed because now my computer isn't working right. I have snow leopard and an older macbook pro... I'm sure other people must be having this problem." -Zach80 from 2011
