erase all information on disk

So if I select a disk for backup and if that ask me to erase the information because it is not formatted as required so it will erase all my information that was already stored in the backup disk before? Is there any way I can keep the information that is already stored in that disk and backup my current information?

Hello shreya,

Reformatting will erase the data on the disk. Copy the data to another disk, reformat the one you want to use, then copy the data to the reformatted disk.
