invert values in a column

I use Quickbooks Self-employed(QBSE) to support my small consulting gig.

Use my Apple Card for Apple related expenses. Apple does not allow its credit card accounts to be imported to QBSE. You have to do it by importing the transactions via a .csv file.

The issue is I need to invert purchase transaction, which comes in as a '+' value, to '-' value; and to do the same in reverse for a payment.

Is there a way in Numbers to select a column, then invert a positive '+' to a negative '-' value representing a purchase, and vice versa for payments?

Right now I have to go through each transaction manually.

Thanks in Advance!

Alex

Hi Alex,

Select the cells containing the values to be inverted, then press command-C to copy.

Click the Table button and choose a table style for a new auxiliary table.

Reduce the new table to two columns (Neither should be a header column, although I left one header row on my example below.)

Click on cell A2 of the new table, then press command-V to paste.

Click on cell B2, press = to open the Formula Editor, and enter the formula shown below the table in the image above.

A2*-1

Note that you must enter the multiplication operator ( * ), which Numbers will immediately change to the multiplication sign ( × ).

Fill the formula down as many rows as necessary.

Copy the cells in column B.

Select (aingle click) the cell containing the first value to be converted in the Main table, then

Go to th Edit menu and choose Paste Formula Results.

Clear column A of the Invert table, and set it aside for the next set of values to convert,

Regards,

Barry
