MacBook 2012 no internal hard drive recognized

I am under the imprssion that there was a cable issue that was covered by Apple. does anyone know if it still stands?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

No that free cable repair program only covered laptops less than 3 years old and I believe the last MBPro 2012 was sold in 2016 or 2017 so the program is now expired.


If you have a USB to SATA Adapter, drive dock, or enclosure, then you can remove the drive to see if it will boot the laptop externally. If you still have problems, then you know the drive has failed (or you have a partition or file system issue, or software issue).
