Do I need iTunes if I have Apple Music
March 4, 2021
I have iTunes on a Windows box and Apple Music.
I have iTunes configured to use iCloud Music Library in Preferences / General Preferences.
All the music I have in iTunes is in Apple Music and vice versa.
Any song I download in iTunes ends up in Apple Music and vice versa.
Do I really need iTunes anymore? For example, if I uncheck iCloud Music Library in iTunes, I'm assuming I'll have the data in both locations. I can then delete the songs I have in iTunes since they are all in Apple Music and the song will remain in Apple Music.
In the future, any song downloaded on our phones will end up in Apple Music and since we have a Family Sharing plan we all get the music.
I do see the option to access iTunes from Apple Music so I assume that option would go away if I uncheck iCloud Music Library in iTunes since they are connected.
.
Am I understanding this correctly?
