I have a M1 MBP with 16G of memory but when I try and watch Disney plus it just states " website was reloaded because it was using significant memory" I do not have any AD blockers installed on safari. if I open Activity monitor you can see it using about 9G of memory before it reloads. is this a Software issue on Apples side or Coding on Disney+? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I have the same issue... the only way i found to overcome this problem was by installing Safari Technology Preview. It takes some time to load the disney plus page (for some reason) but once it's loaded everything works just fine without any refresh.
I don’t think this is apples fault, when opening activity monitor Disney plus takes a lot of RAM...on every browser you use. Safari just try’s to prevent this from happening by reloading and closing the site. Looking into it Disney plus hikes significantly compared to other streaming sites... had more RAM accumulate with only Disney plus open than when I had HBO MAX+ Microsoft word + PowerPoint + 6 safari tabs open with a YouTube video playing on silent. I hope Disney plus fixes this soon...
I have the same problem and i am using a MacBook Pro 16" (2019) running on 6-Core Intel Core i7 with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD.
Can't understand why would this problem occur on such a pretty solid spec MacBook, I guess this is something that Apple x Disney will have to fix together.
I also see issues with Disney+ playback on an Intel Mac (2018 MBP, 16Gb RAM, OS X 10.15.7, Safari 14.0.3). Playing videos always brings up the Safari banner about significant memory usage within a minute of starting up, and the page gets killed and reloaded about once every 4 episodes or so.
I have no issues on any other streaming services, including Amazon, Youtube and iPlayer.
Yes this happens on Disney plus and also on Seneca an app I use for quick revision. I feel like big sur just messed with everything. My 2020 mbp i7 13 inch reloads Disney plus. It’s battery life has gone down the drain. I’m surprise your m1 max has the same problem tho. Cause apple normally likes to limit performance on old technology which they are gonna discontinue in a year or two.
I experienced the same issue, my apple first-kit solved all the problems. Make sure you run Apple first aid kit on all your systems. I can now enjoy Disney Plus without receiving a notification about significant memory usage.
I also had to download Chrome and it solved my issue, I much prefer to use Safari though.
This problem is present with one-drive streaming service as well. I happen to have a MBA M1 16 GB. Is this problem present on Mac-intel as well?
Yes, this problem is present on my MacIntel: MacBook Pro 15" 2019 16 GB. But if I open the site with Firefox... there's no annoying message at all and the page doesn't re-loads itself.
Yes I have tried all these and it does not help. Safari has a coding issue for sure or is incompatible with Disney+. I just raised the question in hopes of Apple fixing it or at least attempting to.

Same issue with MacBook Pro mid '15 and 16GB of RAM.
But it is just happening recently. A few weeks ago there was no problem.

This happens to me!! I stopped using Safari and downloaded Google Chrome, now I have no problems with my Disney plus saying "significant memory" and it doesnt keep reloading. Hope this helps
Yes Chrome is the easiest way but it's not at full resolution. With technology preview you can manage to watch everything at higher resolution than Chrome.
I also have this issue I have to watch Disney Plus in CHROME and it uses significantly less memory. Not what I would have expected
