Delete apps on iPad

I have a 5th Gen iPad which has been updated to iOS 14.4.

I want to delete some apps. The hold down on app icon, wait until it wiggles method no longer works because the X never appears. Apple support has information on its ask a question page dated January 26, 2021 which says a box will appear with “delete”. That is not happening. After icons wiggle some get a box with “share app” and “edit homepage”. Edit homepage opens a box to add widgets.

The old method was simple and intuitive. Whoever changed it please change it back. This is complicating a simple task, actually prohibiting a simple task. Your support SUCKS. No customer access to help. Really will be considering other vendors for our pads and phones.

Anyone in “the community” know how to remove an app?

iPad, iPadOS 14

If you are experiencing difficulties with removing Apps from your iPad, you need to check your ScreenTime restrictions:

Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps - ensure that this permission is set to Allow

See the following from Delete apps from iPad - Apple Support

    1. Touch and hold an app you want to delete to open a quick actions menu, then tap Delete App.
    2. If the apps begin to jiggle, tap  on the app you want to delete.
    3. Tap Delete.
    4. If the apps are still jiggling, tap Done at the top right.

Note that some built-in Apple apps cannot be deleted.

If no apps can be deleted, the usual reason is that there is a restriction set on deleting apps. On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > Deleting Apps.
